Criminal Acts, How Useless They Are!

When I was watching CSI on TV, a reality of this life suddenly crossed my mind. Criminal act, seems to be a one-way-out in solving problems or fulfilling desire. I have seen many episodes, many cases, and many motives but still can’t understand of how criminal act could be one of their choices to end up things.

Murder, robbery, kidnapping, pirating, hijacking, attacking, counterfeiting, escaping paying taxes, breaking traffic law, even lying, and so on and on(there’s no enough time if I have to spell them all) are just a few examples of criminal acts.

We see crimes everywhere, causing chaos everyday, and jeopardizing everyone. But their reasons sometimes do not make any sense at all. I mean is it that bad that we have to steal someone’s life or to hurt somebody else, disturbing the inhabitants’ security, whereas everybody has the same right to it?

Poverty is the most reason found. This premise usually guides them to do criminal acts from the lightest to the heaviest, from stealing to taking of hostages. And homicide, sometimes caused by revenge, or simply by human’s ego. But one act of crime can lead the offender to the other indirect crimes. It really reminds me of a quote from The Kite Runner book which says

When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father.
That quote is really a good example of how murderers have not only stolen life, but also brought personal calamity to the relatives of their victims. It shows that a demise of a person is not something that inconsequential. Robbery amounts to the same thing, that when a robber rob, for example, a bank, the bank will suffer bankruptcy, many people will lose their money, and not impossible that the workers will lose their job.

Therefore there are police and detectives. The ones who uphold the justice. They see crimes, they find evidence, they determine suspects, prove all their analysis, bring them to the court, and punish them. How they do it is something beyond my ken, but it must be not an easy thing. The offender surely won’t confess his criminal act and surrender, even the suspects—who are actually clean, sometimes have to lie (only when they don’t have good enough alibi) in order not to be involved. But no matter how clever they hide it, an inevitable evidence is always there to tell the truth. And don’t forget that law still exists, and under it, the judge will decide the defendant’s chastise in the lawsuit for its conduct. Eye for an eye. As fair as it could be.

So, why do we have to do those stupid acts? disturbing people's life, stealing their right of tranquility, risking our life of being caught and imprisoned, fulfilling desire without any profit, having proscribed money, and most of all, committing a sin. It doesn't worth for what we'll have gotten!
