Family Affairs

Before the LMT which I have already told you in the last blog post was held, there sure was a pre-LMT, an activity where we, the eASY members, began to know each other and grew the familial relationship within 2 months. There were many many many things that have happened that I’m afraid I will miss a thing!

Pre-Maincomms. After we were interviewed by the eleventh and the twelfth graders, some of the new members were chosen as the Pre-Maincomms, the candidates of eASY’s next year commitees. Only me and Ardi that were chosen from my class. I remember that afternoon there was a message which said: Congratulations, you are chosen as the pre-maincomm, etc. We were informed that from the next day on, we had to attend the morning and afternoon sessions.

The morning and afternoon sessions. August 6th, 2009, was my first morning session, and was late too. I had to come by 6:30 in the morning and when I arrived a bit later, I saw the other PM (Pre-Maincomms) were running laps while yelling the yell of Pre-Maincomm: Pre Maincomm, we know how to fight, we know how to work, we know how to lead, fight work lead, succeed! Pre Maincomm, toghether all for one, one for eASY. eASY eASY eASY get the goal eASY for all! I innocently asked teh Cathy, the head of LMT whether to right running or not. Lol. After that I was given the ID of PM which has a lighthouse shape. When we stood in lines in the field, some of us were asked the philosophy of the ID, and we also had to submit the tasks that were given the day before in which made me almost crying and stayed awake until 1 o’clock in the morning: foolscap-size papers of essays. And so it ended up with me ‘donating’ the first 2 punishment points because of wrong formatting. We usually were given leadership materials in the morning session and new tasks in the afternoon session. Several weeks later, the morning and afternoon session was not only for the PM anymore, but also the whole batch of eASY members. Eversince, the afternoon session was held in XII Science 4

English News Service. During the Pra-LMT, the PM had to watch TVRI every afternoon at 6 o’clock to listen to English News Service, which we usually shorten it into ENS. Then we chose a topic to be written on our PM-book. We wrote it everyday, even on the weekends, mid-test week, and Ramadan, in 2 months! I sometimes didn’t watch it and searched it on The Djakarta Post online instead, which I knew was also what other PM did. I was sick of ENS actually. However, after the regeneration was over, it made me really miss watching it.

A Surprise for the Head of LMT. August 14th, 2009. Days before that day, we had agreed to gave our head of LMT, teh Cathy, a surprise. So we divided us into two groups. The first group was the one who came on time in the morning session a nd only contained of 5-8 people. The second one was the one who intendedly came late and gathered first in fro

nt of LIPI and brought a surprise cake containing the rest of PM. I decided to get into the first group. Teh Cathy was, as we hoped she would be, mad. She was so mad that she canceled giving us material and almost straight closing the morning session when the flock of PM from the second group came, with a Ami, the one who was later chosen as the new chairman, brought the cake. He was shaking and stumbled, but fortunately the cake was okay. And we sang a ‘happy birthday’ song for her together. She was sooo surprised and said ‘thanks’ many times. In the end, we took photos together. Oh, such a sweet time!

Elimination of the PM. August 17th, 2009, should be a fun day because the whole citizens were celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day. But it turned out into a blue-full of tears-day in the afternoon session. Unexpectedly, the twelfth graders announced those who would be eliminated as the PM. And to my great surprise, some of them were Salsa, Dyah, Ardi, and teh Dinda, the ones who were competent and had contributed a lot during the Pra-LMT. It was the first time I saw them crying, except Ardi, who seemed glad to be eliminated. Seeing them really made me wanted to cry too. I will never ever forget that day. :(

CheeSY and buSY. Cheesy stands for Cucurak of eASY, an activity we made to decrease our punishment points that was held in a Sande’s house. And the cucurak itself is to eat together to welcome Ramadan. But the climax of CheeSY was not the lunch part, but the activities before and after the lunch. Before we had lunch, we first watched Dodge Ball, a film by Ben Stiller. And after lunch, we did karaoke, th e part we got fun the most. There wer
e rules in doing the karaoke. We did it in a couple, and was randomly chosen. The couple should comes from different batch too. The song was also randomly chosen. I only remembered Salsa and a Ami sang Barbie Girl, teh Alvi and Ardi sang Koi Mili Gaya, and the winner and was also the funniest one: a Male and teh Euis sang Gantengnya Pacarku. Lol, it was the day full of laugh! :D (CheeSY was also the day when something about me was newly revealed only in the range of PM and is now known by the whole of eASY members. Poor me). Next is buSY, which stands for Buka Bareng eASY. Unlike CheeSY, buSY was made for the whole eASY members. Of course, from the name we know that it was held in Ramadan. This time, the activity is held in Dyah’s house to break the fast. I was so excited b eing chosen as the documentation section, but then realized that I wouldn’t be in any of buSY photos. Pathetic -_- . But that was okay, as long as I had fun with them :). In buSY, we played many cheesy jokes, and I love
d it very much. If we could answer or ask a cheesy joke, then we would be granted a stick of sparkler. But we all were given sticks of sparkler somehow. We turned it on outside, in front of Dyah’s house. Still responsible to my job, I kept taking photographs in a hand while the other hand holding a shining sparkler. Overall, the two activities were held successfully and decreased quite a lot of punishment points.

Beside things I just described, there were still many others. For example, when we gathered to make eASY’s ID for the members and batch-book cover, and when we were so busy hunting for the autograph of eASY members to complete each’s database. We also discussed ‘wild’ things to decrease our punisment points like making an all-in telenovela or a choir. We had sufficient time to watch G-Force together too. And during the things we’ve all been through together, the sense of family affairs slowly grows among us. The tasks that required togetherness indeed made us closer and more knowing each other. I don’t know how to describe it, but eASY already feels like my second family.

Everything’s just the beginning, and I’m soooo excited seeking for a year-full of programs with eASY like 12th graders’ farewell party, tourist hunting, eASY goes to the cinema, and most of all: being the committee of ENTHUSIASTIC. I am so grateful to have been one of eASY’s big family.

Love,

Bukan Pra-LMT, tapi Pre-LMT (perhatikan perbedaan di antara bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Inggris). Then "mercusuar" is "lighthouse" in English, and I believe we're not collecting the tasks, we're submitting them --a OMG, PP, you've gotta try to differ between one word and another. Then again, it's "Dodge Ball" not "Dogde Ball"; and who annointed me as the "winner" of the karaoke session? That was hellish, for sure =)) =)) and it traumatized me that I won't ever sang at karaoke again.

Okay, skip the comments above

Well, it's a good post after all :)
